Tyler Farr is trapped in a glass box. Or so it appears in the video that dropped today (June 15) for his new single “Withdrawals.”

The song takes a new twist on the term ‘withdrawal.’ In this case, Farr is overcoming an addiction in the form of his ex-girlfriend.

The emotionally dark video was shot in Nashville, directed by Eric Welch and produced by Max Butler. Farr explained that going through old videos from Nine Inch Nails helped influence the video’s aesthetic.

“When we were trying to come up with visuals to help explain the emotion, we looked at footage of Trent Reznor performances in NIN music videos, art galleries of people in glass boxes, and then tried our best to put those against the lyrics of the song,” Farr said in a press release. “What came out in the end is exactly what I had in my head.”

The four-minute clip starts off with a zoom-in shot of Farr as he’s drinking a shot of whiskey before he sings, “They don’t have a rehab for heartbreak.”

Stuck in a glass case being filled up with water, the more he remembers the best parts of his relationship, the more the water caves in on him.

Does he make it out alive?
